Keerti—the name itself means popularity. For Keerti Reddy her name was supposed to do the trick. Along with the name, if there was anything else that would have done the trick was the fact that her debut film in Bollywood was with the Abhishek’s Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya. If there was any jadoo, it was of the wrong kind.
This Bangalore bred, shy and innocent schoolgirl started career at the tender age of seventeen, while she was studying in Bangalore's Jiddu Krishnamurthy School. Coming from a family of politicians, Keerti always wanted to become a part of the glamour world. She learnt Bharatnatyam for eight long years and had some basic training in classical Karnatic music and classes in diction and voice modulation.
Her grand father, Ganga Reddy is an M.P. Her father is an interior designer and mother is an internationally recognized fashion dress designer. Her brother and sister have a wine business. When Keerti expressed a wish to act in films, first her grandfather and then her mom okayed her decision. Thus began the career of this stunning Andhra girl.
Her debut film, Devadai, was an offbeat Tamil film that may have not hit bull's eye at the box-office, but helped her establish credentials. Later her Telugu film opposite Pawan Kalyan, 'Tholi Prema' brought a lot of recognition to her as an actress and has also won best actress award for this film.
When Keerthi was visiting Mumbai to participate in Gautamraja Dhakshya's photo session for an ad, she bagged the role opposite Abhishek Bachchan in 'Tera Jadu Chal Gaya. But the film failed miserably. Everything about the film--from the director to Reddy's clothes was criticized. But that was not enough. Her next two films Rajiv Rai's ‘Pyar Ishq Aur Mohabbat’ and Anil Kapoor starrer ‘Badhai ho Badhai’, on which she had banked heavily, too bombed . She was virtually written off from Bollywood. And Keerthi was back in South.
She reminds you of a cuddly cat; clever and careful. Mesmerizing smile, and naughty beautiful eyes, this soft baby faced girl is proud of her traditional values imbibed during the course of her upbringing.
She takes lessons in horse riding, salsa and jazz during her free time. “Dance in any form is a passion, especially Bharatanatyam”, she says. “I love to travel. Vienna's my favorite city. it is the most romantic place in the world.”
